The Holy Trinity Greek School of London has been in existence for over 50 years and serves the needs of the Greek - Canadian population of South Western Ontario.
In the early years, the school was held in the church basement and all the classes were taught by the parish priest. Under the leadership of the late Mr. Bill Vagenas and later of the late Mrs. Meni Sakellis, the school increased in size and it was moved to public facilities.
Presently the school is directed by the London District Catholic School Board, under the advice of the Principal Mr. Steve Eleftheroglou and the Education Committee of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Community of London and Vicinity.
The school has about 200 students and offers classes from the junior kindergarten to grade 8 in the elementary level and grades nine to twelve in the secondary level. In addition, it offers one adult class for friends of the Greek language and culture.
Classes run every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. during the regular school year.
Over the past few years, some organizational, curriculum and staffing changes have been made in order to meet the needs of our students. As our population structure changes, the need of individualized instruction has been increased. The second and third generation of Greek-Canadians will challenge our Greek school in many areas. We are proud of the many positive changes we have instituted so far and we will continue to strive for improvement on all fronts, as we look confidently into the 21st century.
